At Renew, we know that emotional regulation isn’t just about “managing anger.” It’s about learning how to pause, process, and respond—especially when emotions run high in the aftermath of separation or during co-parenting challenges.
That’s why we developed the RESET Program: a one-on-one therapeutic experience grounded in clinical best practices and tailored to meet you where you are. Whether you're navigating family court, struggling with parenting time transitions, or hoping to show up more calmly and consistently for your child, RESET equips you with the tools to break unhelpful cycles and build a more emotionally grounded life.
The RESET Program includes four tracks—each reflecting a real-world challenge many separating and separated families face. These tracks are not rigid curricula, but guiding pathways to ensure your therapy is focused, goal-driven, and relevant to your lived experience.
Support for parents struggling to stay calm, regulated, and responsive during parenting time.
This track focuses on the emotional toll of managing transitions, children’s behaviours, and post-visit distress. It provides concrete tools to prepare emotionally before visits, remain grounded during parenting time, and decompress or reflect after. Ideal for parents navigating court-ordered visits, new schedules, or inconsistent access.
Support for reducing emotional reactivity in communication with a former partner.
Whether communication is hostile, inconsistent, or entirely broken, this track equips clients with strategies to disengage from conflict, maintain emotional boundaries, and protect children from adult tension. Especially beneficial for clients in parallel parenting arrangements, or those whose emotional triggers are often tied to co-parent interactions.
Therapeutic support for clients preparing for or navigating family court, OCL, CAS, or legal matters.
This track addresses the heightened emotional pressure that comes with court timelines, custody decisions, and professional evaluations. Clients learn how to stay emotionally regulated in meetings, manage reactive urges, and communicate effectively with lawyers, clinicians, assessors, and judges.
Support for emotionally reconnecting with a child following separation, conflict, or distance.
This track helps parents understand how their own emotions influence their child’s sense of safety and connection. Clients learn co-regulation techniques, responsive parenting strategies, and how to repair ruptures in the parent-child bond. Where helpful, in-person parent-child sessions may be included to observe dynamics, practice new skills, and receive feedback.
Your therapist will work with you to adjust the length of the program to meet your unique needs and goals. Additional sessions can be added based on your progress.
What makes the RESET Program effective is its focus on the real emotional needs of separated and divorcing parents—not just behavioural compliance, but deep, sustainable change.
