Some families come to supervised parenting time with needs that reach beyond the visit itself. Parenting concerns may connect to child coping, family conflict, emotional regulation, parent support, counselling, or family therapy. Through Renew Therapy and Family Services, families may be able to access related supports when appropriate, while Renew Supervision remains focused on parenting time, exchanges, access-centre services, documentation, and visit support. The services are complimentary with roles clearly defined.

Parenting time notes are based on observations from the visit. They include attendance, timing, location, activities, transitions, parent-child interactions, concerns that arise, and details connected to the order, agreement, or service plan. The notes are not a custody assessment, therapy note, or recommendation about future parenting arrangements.
A court order is not required, but Renew does need clear joint direction from both parties as a basis for service. This may be a court order, written agreement, endorsement, consent arrangement, or another written plan that outlines what is being requested. Clear details about timing, location, restrictions, costs, transportation, and documentation help the service begin smoothly.
Some children need time to warm up, ask questions, stay close to a familiar adult at first, or settle into the transition before the visit begins. A supervisor can provide a supportive presence, explain what is happening in an age-appropriate way, offer reassurance, help with the transition, and look for a simple starting point that fits the child and the plan. However, supervised parenting time is not a substitute for a therapeutic process when ongoing parent-child contact problems need clinical support. When a child is consistently unable or unwilling to participate, there may be more complex family dynamics that require a more formal therapeutic approach, such as reunification therapy or another clinical service.
Renew is a private service, so visits may be arranged in different ways depending on the plan, location, availability, and what is workable for the child and family. Some visits happen in the community, some in the home, some virtually, and some at one of Renew’s access-centre locations. Where available, Renew’s access-centre services are private and booked for one family at a time. Renew also has related family supports through Renew Therapy and Family Services, while keeping each service role separate.
