Anger Management Course

*The Anger Management Course is open to anyone, anywhere. You do not need to register for supervised access visits to participate.


Renew offers an anger management program uniquely designed to support parents experiencing separation or divorce. Sessions are one-on-one so the content is tailored to address concerns raised by the client or courts. As part of our client-centred approach, session hours are flexible to accommodate work and family schedules and session durations are amenable based on personal goals or time constraints. This course is ideal for a parent who struggles to regulate their emotions and calm themselves down or who have a court order to attend. Below is an overview of the modules offered:


Events and Cues: A Conceptual Framework for Understanding Anger 

  • Analyze an Anger Episode 
  • Identify the Events and Cues that Indicate an Escalation of Anger


Anger Control Plans: Develop a Plan for Controlling Anger

  • Cognitive–Behavioural Strategies for Managing Anger 
  • Anger Management Strategies: Prevention and De-escalation Strategies


The Aggression Cycle: How to Change the Cycle 

  • Aggression Cycle and Progressive Muscle Relaxation for Reducing Anger Levels


Cognitive Restructuring: A-B-C-D Model and Thought Stopping 

  • Anger Management Techniques that Examine and Change Thought Processes


Assertiveness Training and the Conflict Resolution Model 

  • Learning and Practicing Alternatives for Expressing Anger


Anger and the Family: 

  • How Past Learning Can Influence Present Behaviour


Mental Health, Drugs & Substance Abuse 

  • The Role of Mental Health and Substance Abuse on Anger
